FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

If your question isn't answered here, email us at hello@thegamer.network.

Which streaming platforms do you support?

Twitch, YouTube Live, and Kick — simultaneously. A single game takes chat from all three and treats viewers as first-class participants regardless of where they're watching.

How much does it cost?

Pricing is being finalized ahead of launch. We'll have a Basic tier (core games) and a Pro tier (everything plus premium titles), with one-time purchase available for premium games standalone. See pricing for detail.

How does the platform handle stream latency?

Every account has a configurable broadcast_delay_seconds setting. The scoring engine opens a grace window equal to your delay after the hard answer timer closes — late answers during that grace window still score (at the 10% floor). Calibrate once; it stays put.

Do my viewers need to install anything?

No. Viewers play by typing in chat. The game client runs inside your OBS as a browser source; only the streamer interacts with our servers.

Do I need to install anything on my PC?

You need Streamer.bot (which most streamers already have) and OBS. That's it. Our Streamer.bot bundle imports in one step. No new daemons, no background services.

How secure is my API key?

Keys are 256 bits of random entropy. We store only a SHA-256 hash — the raw key is shown once when you create it. The key lives in your Streamer.bot bundle and your OBS browser source URL; anyone with access to your OBS scene file will see it, same as any other browser-source secret. Rotate it from the dashboard any time.

What data do you collect and retain?

Per game session we store: chat username + platform, the answers submitted, and scoring events. That data stays on your account's leaderboards and history. We do not share per-viewer data across accounts. Account data (email, password hash, API keys) is ours to protect — see our privacy policy.

Is the platform open source?

No. The Gamer Network is a proprietary SaaS product. The Streamer.bot bundle itself is an exportable config that lives on your machine.

How do I cancel?

From the dashboard: Account → Billing → Cancel. Access continues through the end of your current billing period. No retention flow, no "are you sure" maze.

What happens to my leaderboards if I cancel?

Your account and its leaderboards stay for 30 days in a read-only state in case you come back. After 30 days they're purged unless you ask us to keep them.

Can I run the game while I'm on stream — not just BRB?

Absolutely. It's designed for the BRB moment because that's the strongest use case, but plenty of streamers run it during chill segments or as a main-show episode. The camera reservation corner lets it layer over anything.

What if the game glitches during a stream?

A streamer !abort cleanly stops the current game. A refresh of the OBS browser source reconnects to the live game state. Everything game-state is on the server.

Will you add more games?

Yes. The platform was built to host many games; WhatIs is the first. Core games will roll out to both tiers; premium games land in the Pro tier or as one-time purchases.

Can I request a specific game?

Please do. Pitch us on the contact page or email hello@thegamer.network.
